We saw Familjen play wild music

2025-08-25

I joined my friends T, S, J, and E for an excursion north to this seaside arcadia where they built a stage between some apple trees and had lots of light installations and sold heavily overpriced beer to hipsters. Perfect saturday night

The venue for the night was "Sofiero Gård" a strange place near the castle, arranged by [uhhhhh i forgot] and they had lured over some food trucks too and that little red coffee car. And so gathered were we, and a few more friends and a lot of jolly fellows. We drank wine already on the overpacked bus over. IDK it feels important to point out. I usually feel old at things like this nowadays but not this time.

Anyways so, we eat and drink, the sun goes low, the fog machine is tested. It is time. The first act.

The gang on our way to the venue...

Familjen

Familjen ("the family" in swedish) is one guy lol. But on stage that night he was joined by a synth operator and an analog drummer - and they were amazing... *dreamy sigh*

Ok. So, Familjen does electropop of the punchier, dancier kind, while singing in thick "skånska" swedish. Its perfect music to scream along to on a summer eve. Apart from singing, the guy himself did stunts

He climbed around and shit

and had an echo pedal for doing dub effects (micdrop with 999% feedback style stuff). He was pretty cool. Palestinian flag 🇵🇸 on his jacket, and loose enough pants so you could note his dick sometimes

Svenska Björnstammen

I got to be honest i saw these before and while they are great this time i left the pit to hang back and talk shit and drink beer for a while. Since the venue is literally just the backyard of a barn that means it was still pretty intimate, which was great. The whole evening had a very cozy vibe and this was the epitome of that.

But it means i didn't pay a great deal of attention to the music. I can tell you that they're a collective living in a big house and some of them have kids and they all make art or sculptures and stuff. You see all this in their music videos. I used to be so jealous that i couldn't listen to them ✨😭

What DID end up happening that i was sat in one of the porta potties when the chorus to their first breakthrough hit played and the whole queue was singing together and it was magical. Then i took a shit 🤷‍♀️

Elven forest vibes with benches and beer tents

Panda Da Panda

Third and last act. I wasn't too familiar with these. It's the moniker for another scanian guy. He's a more dramatic type, he's yearning and aching, there's masked dancers, naked dancers... but there is still a drop (førfaen) and sometimes it goes pretty hard. Other times he plays harmonica.

The setup is somewhat similar to Familjen; he has a synth guy, although not a drummer. Instead his wife (who is also responsible for the choreography) comes on and sings a duet with him while looking like a sci fi princess.

It's like cyberpunk themed or something

In any case, i still think i enjoyed Familjen the most. It had none of the richness of the Panda Da Panda experience... which in my mind is what made it! We were just happy and drunk and jumping around while on stage a man goes ham with a drum machine screaming about young love. Such a powerful moment...

Afterword

There were also some trouble and a lot of security guards. Some guy got angry with me under one of the concerts. No smoking unless you went off the premises... Every time you came back from a piss you had to look at denmark across the sea... One of the food trucks was MAGA themed but like, make burgers great again. (For the sake of journalism, i emailed him for a comment and his reply was basically "lol i trol u". Which on the other hand, yeah.)

Jood job motherfucker

Closing Statement

Okay so i don't know how much of this is true tbh 👍 i know what i saw and heard but should we trust my experience? Not always...
